In this series you will hear Jesse Romero, Catholic Lay Evangelist,
give you a step by step explanation of how to prepare and make
a good sacramental confession. He will lay out the 5 necessary
steps: 1) Examination of conscience, 2) Contrition, 3) Confession,
4) Penance or Satisfaction, 5) Absolution - and then give you the
biblical basis for each step along with the citations from the
Catechism to provide further clarification.
We all have been in the confessional any number of times, and
have focused out attention on what we will confess, but we may
have never stopped and thought about our preparation for the
sacrament before we enter the Church.
Jesse looks at the sacrament of Confession from the perspective
of the penitent and the perspective of the priest. Jesse then lays
out, in point-by-point order, a clear explanation of the biblical
evidence for this holy Sacrament of God's Mercy.
Then, Jesse looks at why it is critical to recognize our sins as
well as what the early Church fathers and apostles wrote
about confession of sins. Then, he completes the study with
a review of the biblical teaching on confession from both the
Old and New Testament.
Find out why the only thing the devil fears is a ‘humble’ person
and how this sacrament immerses you in humility. Jesse then
explains why we must all have the disposition of St Dominic Savio
who exclaimed to his peers: “Death before Sin”, and why our
confessions must be from the heart in order to be forgiven and
we must “bear good fruit” as evidence of repentance (Luke 3:8).
This is straight talk, no spin Catholicism. You will also learn:
• Why we confess our sins to a Priest.
• The categories of sin (mortal and venial) from scripture.
• Why we should confess our venial sins daily.
• Why both testaments use priests to mediate God’s forgiveness.
• What behaviors and words to focus on in the Confessional.
• Why penance is critical in completing one's confession.
• At one point God's mercies are poured during the Confession.
• What 2 motivations are guaranteed to drive one to Confession. |
